½ lb ground pork breakfast sausage
2 tbsp butter
½ cup chopped celery
¼ cup chopped onion
2 4oz cans of sliced water chestnuts
1 12oz package of dry stuffing with herbs
3 apples; peeled cored and cubed
1 tbsp dry chicken broth
Cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain and set aside.
Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat, stir in the celery, onion and water chestnuts. Cook until the celery is tender, stirring frequently. Remove from the heat.
Prepare the herbed stuffing according to the package directions. Mix in the sausage, celery mixture, apples and the chicken broth.
Transfer to the turkey.
This stuffing may be baked in a large baking dish in a 325° oven for 30 minutes.
