2 Large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
Cinnamon to sprinkle on the apples
1 10oz cans Pillsbury Crescent rolls
1 cup butter
½ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
1 ½ tsp cinnamon, or more to taste
1 tsp vanilla
12 oz Mountain Dew(I use diet)
Preheat the oven to 350°
Grease a 9x13 baking dish.
Separate the crescent rolls. Cut each apple into 8 wedges and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Roll each apple piece in a crescent roll triangle. (roll from smallest end to largest)
Pinch to seal and place in the baking dish.
Melt the butter in small saucepan and add the sugar and simmer until the sauce is a thick rich caramel and pulls away from the pot. Add the vanilla and cinnamon and stir to combine.
Pour over the apple dumplings.
Pour the Mountain Dew over the dumplings and bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
